BHEL Bhopal received prestigious QCI-DL Shah Silver Award for its project ‘Quality and Productivity Improvement and Up-gradation of load carrying capacity of Thrust and Guide Bearing assemblies used in vertical AC motors’.
Patent application has also been registered for this innovative project. The DL Shah award was presented by HK Taneja of DL Shah Trust to BHEL Team comprising of MK Sharma, Additional General Manager (Quality), Ravi Gera, Sr Deputy General Manager (Motors Design) and AfaqueKibria, Deputy Manager (Motors Design) in an award presentation ceremony held at Pune.
The award process included initial scrutiny by award jury followed by presentation of project in front of jury by the project team and on-site assessment of the project. The on-site assessment was done by VN Choudhary on January 30, 2019.
BHEL- Bhopal had received Gold and silver awards earlier also. The award symbolizes BHEL efforts taken on quality front by top management to face stiff competition from multinationals.
Executive Director DK Thakur, MS Kinra, General Manager (Quality) and HK Nigam, General Manager (EM) congratulated the team and emphasized for striving for further excellence. The project had also been conferred with BHEL ‘Excel Award’.
Quality Council of India was established in 1997 by Government of India in association with three Chambers of Commerce viz CII, FICCI and ASSOCHAM. The Chairman of Quality Council of India is appointed by Prime Minister. National Accreditation boards for Certification bodies, Education and Training, Hospitals and Healthcare providers and Testing and calibration Laboratories are part of QCI.
