The Utkal Sammilani celebrated the birth anniversary of Ganakabi Baishnab Pani paying floral tributes at his statute at the Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya here on Sunday.
Sammilani Mancheswar branch president Dillip Dashsharma, presiding over the programme, said that renovation of the statues of the legendary leaders before their birth anniversaries is needed in the way that of Baishnab Pani was done.
Among others, sammilani VP Sital Chandra Mohanty, secretary Govind Chandra Subudhi and members Basanti Tripathy, joint secretary Ashok Kumar Paltasingh, Maheswar Biswal, Shiv Prasad Mishra, Ketra Mohan Nayak, Akhaya Jethi, Prakash Samal and Lagnadeepa Mishra were present.
Similarly, the All Odisha Roadside Vendors’ Association also celebrated Pani’s birth anniversary paying him floral tributes in a programme under chairmanship of association founder president Pratap Sahu.
The Pujyapuja Sanskruti Suraksha Abhiyan also organised a meeting to celebrate the birth anniversary of the Ganakabi under leadership of Abhiyan chairman Pradyumna Satpathy. Satpathy said the efforts of Pani for making Odisha liquor-free were commendable.
Pani was born on the Kumar Purnima day in year 1882 at Kothapada village in the Mahanga area of Cuttack district.
