Dehradun police have arrested two of the five accused of the armed robbery that was carried out at a courier company on Doon University road on Sunday night. Police have recovered Rs 60,000, a motorbike used for committing the crime and a revolver.

Those arrested have been identified as Mohit Kumar (21) and Shubham Saini (21) while Rahul, Sonit and Monu are absconding. Superintendent of Police (city) Shweta Choubey said, “We received a complaint from the manager of the courier company that four people had robbed their company of Rs one lakh cash on the night of July 14. The employees present there that night were threatened at gunpoint and locked in the bathroom.

The eye witnesses said that there were four people involved but later we came to know that a fifth person was also involved.” She further said, “Receiving the information we first interrogated the employees and the manager. We got information about former employees who left their jobs in the past two-three years.

On the basis of this we found the activities of Mohit and Shubham suspicious. Getting information from the surveillance and sources we arrested Mohit from Bhandaribagh and Shubham from Saharanpur.

Both of them were the masterminds of this robbery. They contacted Sonit-- who has a criminal record in Haryana-- who contacted his cousins and they all together committed the crime.”
