Two groups clashed over past enmity at Anatirisia village of Brahmagiri block in Puri district on Friday. As many as seven people were injured when both the sides hurled more than two dozen bombs at each other during the faceoff.
Four of the injured were identified as Purna Pradhan, Arabinda Swain, Shantilalata Swain and Sangram Pradhan of Anatirisa village.
The injured were initially rushed to a private hospital from where the victims with critical injuries were shifted to the Rebana Nuagaon Community Health Centre.
The incident occurred following an altercation between the two sides when a pregnant woman was being taken to a hospital. More than a dozen houses were damaged in the bomb hurling.
Getting information, police rushed the spot to control the volatile situation. They recovered seven bombs and one tiffin bomb from the spot.
Two platoons of police forces were deployed in the village to prevent the situation from worsening further. A forensic team and a bomb disposal squad also reached the village to conduct investigations and diffuse the bombs.
