The Minister of State for Women Welfare and Child Development Rekha Arya while chairing a meeting of the departmental officials on Wednesday announced that the Women Safety Button would be launched on September 14. The Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat would be present during the launch, she added.
Notably, the safety button would be distributed free of cost among 100 girls and women from Dehradun and Haridwar districts on September 14. At present, the price of the safety button is Rs 2360 which can be purchased from the Directorate of Women Welfare and Child Development.
The proposal has been submitted to the Government to provide such buttons at subsidised price to the women in the form of women safety kits. If the proposal is accepted the price of the button would be Rs 860.
Among others present at the meeting were the Director of Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Ranveer Singh Chauhan, deputy director S K Singh and state project officer of women welfare and empowerment Aarti Balodi.
