A woman had a miraculous escape after jumping off the Khukhai river bridge on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar on Saturday afternoon.
Sources said the unidentified woman jumped off the bridge in an attempt to commit suicide.
Fortunately, she was rescued from the river by some locals and rushed to a hospital in a critical condition.
The reason behind the woman’s move was yet to be ascertained while police launched an investigation into the incident. Police said the woman would be interrogated to ascertain why she attempted suicide.
A few months back, a 49-year-old woman had also jumped off the bridge near Hanspal into the Kuakhai river in a bid to end her life.
The woman, identified as Sumitra Kumari Das, was later rescued after getting swept by the river current for around 6 km from the spot, where she had attempted suicide.
