Western disturbance to affect weather from Jan 28

A fresh western disturbance is likely to affect the climate in the western Himalayan region from January 28. However, the climate would remain dry in the State on Friday, the day when Republic Day would be celebrated. In Dehradun, the climate was dry on Thursday, though it was windy. However, the sky got partly overcast during the evening hours. A Met official said that shallow to moderate fog is likely to engulf isolated places in the plains of Uttarakhand, especially in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts, during the morning hours on Friday.  Besides, some places in the hills would see ground frost during the next 48 hours.

Meteorological centre director Bikram Singh said that the sky would remain mainly clear to partly cloudy in the State on Friday, though rain is most unlikely. In Dehradun, the same forecast would hold on Friday. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 22 degree Celsius and six degree Celsius respectively in Dehradun on the day. 

Singh said that the highest maximum temperature of the State 22.5°C was recorded at Jaspur in Udham Singh Nagar district while the lowest minimum temperature -0.1°C was recorded at Mukteshwar in Almora district.

Very light to light rainfall occurred at isolated places in Uttarakhand with10 mm rainfall being reported from Chamoli district by 8.30 am on Thursday.

On Thursday, the maximum temperature and minimum temperatures were recorded at 21.3 degree Celsius, one notch above the normal, and 6.6 degree Celsius, one notch above the normal, respectively in Dehradun.

In Pantnagar, the maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 18.6 degree Celsius, two notches below the normal, and 4.8 degree Celsius, normal respectively.

In Mukteshwar, the maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 13.4 degree Celsius, one notch above normal, and -0.1 degree Celsius two notches below the normal. In Tehri, the maximum and minimum temperatures recorded were 12.6 degree Celsius and 1.6 degree Celsius respectively.
