Driving down the Agra-lucknow Expressway may cost more from January 19 midnight as the toll announced by the government would become applicable from Saturday midnight. The first toll will be collected at Rewari village on the Expressway at midnight.
CEO, UPEIDA (agency controlling Agra-lucknow Expressway) Avnish Awasthi said that the toll will be the same from both sides but it will be proportional to distance travelled by commuters.
“If one has to go to Kannauj, he would be required to pay less toll as compared to Agra,” he said.
The toll for light vehicles (cars and jeeps) will be Rs 570, for mini vans Rs 905 and for bus and trucks Rs 1815. Very heavy vehicles with 3-6 axels would be required to pay Rs 2785 as toll tax while for oversized vehicle it will be Rs 4770.
Awasthi said that two-wheelers will also be charged if they enter Agra-lucknow Expressway and will have to shell out Rs 285, half of what is charged for jeeps and cars.
The state government had issued a notification regarding this on January 15. Dignitaries like President of India, Prime Minister, Governor, Chief Minister, MPs, legislators, Judges and Padma Award winners have been exempted from paying toll tax.
