Stage set for ortho surgeons' conference in Palamu

Tuesday, 21 August 2018 | PNS | DALTONGANJ

Hectic preparations are on for the September 1 assemblage of orthopaedic surgeons in Palamu. Chairman of Palamu Orthopaedic Club Dr Arun Shukla on Sunday visited the venue of the ortho surgeons meet - the NIC in Betla of Palamu Tiger Reserve on Sunday and took stock of the facilities there.  He said his team would replenish this venue with more light and sound facilities.

He said ortho surgeons coming over here would be treated with a slice Palamu’s inimitable cultural bonanza.

Top orthopaedic surgeons drawn from Mumbai, Bangalore, Solapur, Rohtak and Kolkata are most expected to attend the first ever midterm conference of the orthopaedic surgeons which is going to be held in NIC (Nature Interpretation Centre) Betla on September 1.

Dr Shukla said the conference as such is not directly connected to common people but at the same time the meet of the ortho surgeons here would discuss those things which will be for the benefit of the common people as new mode of treatment of bone would be discussed here at length.

He said quite a few ortho surgeons who are to come here for this one day meet were very skeptical about Palamu and had had nightmarish thought about the place like Palamu is a place where train is hijacked, land mines explode like celebratory event and people are kidnapped at gun point for ransom.

Dr Shukla said our team took all pains to wipe out these fears of the surgeons and our team assured them of all peace and safety here as things now in Palamu are quite good and pro living with fear and apprehension taking a back seat.

Dr Shukla said “Our club decided to hold this midterm conference called MIDCON at NIC in Betla just to acquaint our esteemed guests with the beauty of our flora and fauna here. It will be a nice and life time experience to all who will grace this conference to sit in an environment of jungles away from the odour of the OTs (operation theatres).”

local doctors including R N Singh, R Singh, Vijay K Singh, Awadesh Kumar, N K Rajak (civil surgeon Garhwa) Sanjay Kumar, Anwar Nezam, S K Raman and others appreciated the effort of Palamu Orthopaedic Club for holding MIDCON.

The ortho surgeons who are to come are T Nagda (Mumbai) J Sampath and Purshottam (Bangalore) S S Bhaskaran (Solapoor)  NK Magu ( Rohtak) R Raman and S Kumar ( Kolkata). The MIDCON is being organised by Vanja Arogya Kendra and Palamu Orthopaedic Club.
