The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has decided to shift Dasna toll plaza in Ghaziabad to Chhijarsi village situated on NH 24 under Hapur district that is some 15 kms from the Dasna point.
After the detail deliberations between district administration and NHAI officials, the procedure to acquire 4737.49 hectare of land in the village on NH 24 has been notified under Section (3) (G) of NHAI Act 1953.
The special land acquisition officer Dr Ajay Kumar has invited farmers to discuss the issue of compensation and other relevant subjects with district official on November 27.
The Dasna toll bridge had been in controversies over collection of toll tax in the middle of expanded Ghaziabad city. The daily and staffs who collect the toll are always involved in scuffle over the issue. Despite several complaints and repeated meeting called by officials to resolve the issue, it is unabated.
In order to find a solution, the issues were discussed recently in the meeting called by district magistrate but it also failed to yield a desired result. It may be noted that several FIRs has been lodged against the toll staff and commuters over minor scuffle and heated arguments till now.
In past, several VIPs, including MLAs raised issue of disputes with toll staff members with district magistrate (DM) of Ghaziabad but no amicable solution could be reached out. Finally on September 11, DM Ritu Maheswari wrote a letter to the Government to stop this toll plaza.
In response to the letter the NHAI informed the DM, that the shifting of toll plaza was already in the pipeline prior to her letter to the Government.
Now the concerned Hapur district special land acquisition officer Dr Ajay Kumar has confirmed that the shifting process is on as the land has been identified for the same.
