Pinjore Heritage Fest from Oct 19

Dancers, theatre troupes, artisans and many more creative practitioners are set to embellish the sprawling Pinjore Gardens. For, Haryana will host the three-day “Pinjore Heritage Festival” starting October 19 to commemorate and celebrate the unique heritage of Pinjore and its famed gardens,

This will be the 11th edition of “Pinjore Heritage Festival”.

“The festival encapsulates traditional flavours and is truly a tribute to world –famous Mughal Gardens that form the venue, i.e. Pinjore Gardens. The festival is a three days event organized and hosted by Haryana Tourism with the support of Union Ministry of Tourism,” said Vijai Vardhan, Additional Chief Secretary, Tourism Department while talking to the mediapersons here on Wednesday.

The festival would be held from October 19 to October 21 and will be inaugurated by Tourism Minister Ram Bilas Sharma.

“Haryana Tourism Corporation started the First Pinjore Heritage festival in 2006,” Vijai Vardhan said.

Giving details, he said that much renowned Pinjore Heritage festival will be historic this year in which play titled “1857 ki Kahani, Haryana ki Zubani” showing sagas of  bravehearts of  Haryana will be staged on October 19.

Apart from this, the audience will also be able to see the confluence of Odissi, Manipuri, Kuchipudi and Kathak to be presented by the acclaimed dancer Reela Hota on October 20. On the concluding day on October 21, a mushaira will liven up the evening with soulful and thought provoking Urdu poetry by eminent Urdu poets, Vardhan said.

While a host of celebrated performers will enthrall the audience during cultural evenings, the day performances by folk dance groups and competitions will keep the visitors lively.

Like every year, Crafts Bazaar would also be the centre of attraction for everyone in which craftspersons from all different parts of the country would display their unique handlooms and handicrafts including pottery, apparels and handicrafts from states like Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, J&K besides Haryana.

The multi-cuisine Food Court will be another attraction of the festival. The main highlight of this year’s Heritage Festival will be the delectable Mughlai dishes, which will include Biryani, Tandoori dishes, Qorma and much more. A wide range of delectable dishes like Jaipur’s Dal Bati Churma, Haryanavi and Chinese cuisines will also tantalize the taste buds of one and all.

During the festival, the Pinjore Gardens will be decked up with its palaces lit up and adorned with marigold linings, arches draped with satin curtains and water channels sprinkled with petals of red roses, the ACS Tourism Department said.

A light and sound-show will also start in Pinjore Gardens by next year, he added.

Vardhan also said that last month, we had started laser show at Rohtak’s Tilyar Lake. By March or April, light and sound show on the theme of Bhagwad Gita will also begin at Jyotisar, he said.

When asked about the restoration of various heritage sites in the state, he said that the government is restoring Mahendragarh fort and Madhogarh Fort. A motel will be set up in Madhogarh Fort, he added.
