Outreach Int'l Radio Fair in BBSR on Feb 12

The fourth edition of the only radio fair of India, ‘Outreach International Radio Fair, would begin here on February 12.

The Outreach, a philanthropic organisation, organises this international event every year on the occasion of World Radio Day.

Celebrating Radio and World Radio Day and increasing Radio listenership is the main objective of this event. Plans have been made to to sensitize broadcasters on importance of radio in public service, informed chief convener of the event Subrat Kumar Pati at a Press meet here. “We are encouraging youngsters to choose radio as career. Radio Fair is a platform for promotion and exchange of culture,” he said and added that Outreach would provide assistance to Community radio enthusiasts.

Near about 200 artists would perform music and dance.

International broadcasters like Voice of America, China Radio International, NHK World Radio Japan, Bangladesh Vetaar has increased dignity of the event by joining it. The exhibition has included thousands of old and new radio sets, old and new radio equipments, DRM, auxiliary studio, sand art on World Radio Day theme and Philately on radio. This time, there will be radio repairing shop to repair old ones. This is also a time to buy a new radio set for home from the radio shop in the fair. Handmade radio shop and selfie zone will become attraction for visitors. Padmashree Sudarsan Patnaik will build  a sand culpture on the venue. Simultaneously, there are meetings, seminars and cultural programs on stage.

Five persons and organisations would be awarded with Outreach National Radio Award on this occasion, for excellence in broadcasting. legendary broadcaster Kamal Sharma is to get 'life Time Achievement Award' this year. RJ Devangana from Jaipur of Rajasthan will get 'Popular Radio Presenter of the year' award. Suresh Agrawal of Kalahandi will be honoured with the 'Radio listener of the Year' award and SOA FM of Bhubaneswar will 'Community Radio Station of the year' award. And similarly, Amateur Radio Convention and  Conference Samity of West Bengal is getting 'Best use of radio in Public service' award.
