Nation's first e-toilet-enabled station in Ranchi soon

Adding another feather in its cap, Ranchi Railway Station will soon become first Station in the Country to have e-toilet with all ultra-modern facilities into it.

Talking to the media persons at DRM Office in Hatia, Divisional Railway Manager of Ranchi Rail Division Vijay Kumar Gupta said that the division for the first time in the last 15 years achieved the Performance Efficiency Index (PEI) of 97.70 this year and became financially self-sufficient.

“E-Toilet is a new concept which has not yet been introduced in any of the

Stations in India, which has ultra-modern facilities and is also fully equipped with electronic devices in it,” said the DRM. At present, no Railway Stations in India has such toilets, he added.

E-Toilets are public toilets where once the user inserts a coin, the door opens, the light is switched on and the person is even directed with audio commands.

They are pre-programmed to flush water after automatically in accordance of the time of usage of the toilet. longer the usage, more water will be flushed into the toilet.

“The construction and maintenance work will be completed by April this year by Tata as it is the only company which provides such services in Jharkhand,” said the DRM.

The toilet will have lED bulbs, exhaust fan and a wash basin to which power will be supplied by the solar panels fitted on the toilet roof, he added.

Counting on the achievements during the last financial year, Gupta said that Ranchi Rail Division this year became self sufficient with Performance Efficiency Index of 97.70 this year against the last year figure of 109.71 last year.

“Ranchi Division also achieved all time high punctuality of 96.77 per cent against the target of 95 per cent. In addition to that, 60 per cent boost in freight revenue generation was also recorded this year with 351.38 crore against 219.63 crore,” said the DRM. 

An increase of 20.23 per cent was also recoded this year with 4.30 metric ton, he added.

In another achievement, DRM said, 9 special trains were run during the last year with 185 trips by the division which is higher by 1582 per cent than the special trains run last year.

Talking about the planning of the Division during this financial year, DRM revealed that Ranchi Rajdhani will be upgraded under ‘Swarn Project’ while Hatia-Howrah and Hatia-Patna Express Trains will be upgraded under project ‘Shan-e-Bhopal’ with all ultra-modern facilities in it.

“To give a facelift to Ranchi Railway Station spending around Rs 15-20 crore after appointing an architect by demanding expression of interest in this regard,” said DRM.
