The Odisha Janchetna Manch would hold a State-level convention on the topic, “Save Constitution, Save Country” here on December 6. This was decided in a meeting of the Manch presided over by Prof Swadhinananda Pattanayak.
Speakers said that the country’s Constitution, democracy and democratic rights are under tremendous attack. Attacks on dalits, women, Adivasis, Constitutional institutions, personal independence and minorities by fascist forces are on the rise.
In this critical juncture, secular and patriotic forces should unite and face the challenge to save the Constitution and the country, said the speakers. December 6 is the death anniversary of father of the Constitution BR Ambedkar. On this day, all should cooperate and make the convention on saving the Constitution a success, they said.
Dr Radhakanata Nayak, Prof Bijay Kumar Bahidar, former Finance Minister Panchanan Kanungo, Prof Sumitra Patel and Dr Urmila Das were among others present.
