In a tragic incident in Azamgarh, 4 persons of a family including two children were charred to death after their hut caught fire in the wee hours of Friday. A dozen cattle were also burnt alive in the said mishap.

Reports said that 52-year-old Ramsagar was staying with his family, comprising of his wife and two daughters, in Bardiha area of Azamgarh. In the wee hours of Friday, fire broke out in the hut of Ramsagar in which he and his family members were trapped. Till the neighbours of Ramsagar called the fire tenders and the fire was doused, Ramsagar’s wife Prabhavati (45), daughters Sangita (12) and Chandrashila (10) were burnt to death on the spot itself.

Ramsagar succumbed to injuries while he was being taken to the district hospital for treatment. Almost a dozen cattle including a cow and 11 goats were also killed in the incident. District Magistrate Chandrabhushan Singh said the kin of the deceased will be given every possible help by the district administration. “How the hut actually caught fire will be probed. It was said (by locals) that in order to prevent cattle from being exposed to cold, a bonfire was lit in the hut. It is possible that the accident took place because of this,” Singh said. A case has been registered in this regard and bodies were sent for post-mortem examination.

Meanwhile four persons including two women died in separate mishaps reported from Muzaffarnagar and Greater Noida respectively. In the first incident reported from Muzaffarnagar, 2 persons were killed after a speedy truck collided with a tea stall on Thursday evening. The accident happened at a bus stand in Parasol village. Both the deceased, which included the tea stall owner also, were inside the stall when the incident took place. The truck driver managed to escape the spot after abandoning the vehicle. A case has been registered in this regard by the police and both the bodies were shifted for post-mortem examination. Efforts were on to nab the accused. The victims were identified as lallan Singh (60) and Salek Chand (58).

In a separate incident reported from Greater Noida, 2 women died after being run over by a goods train at a railway crossing in Dadri town. Reports said that Roopvati (35) and Vimla Devi (38), residents of Gautam Puri, were hit by the train when they were crossing the tracks

on Thursday night. The deceased were returning home from work and failed to see the train due to dense fog and had died on the spot. A case has been registered and bodies have been sent for autopsy test.
