In an embarrassment to Haryana, State’s Jagadhari railway station has been ranked among top ten dirtiest stations in 332 A category stations of the country.
The railway stations in Ballabhgarh, Faridabad and Sonipat in Haryana have also figured among dirtiest stations in A category stations, according to the survey report on Station Cleanliness conducted by Quality Council of India (QCI).
The survey has ranked Jagadhari railway station at 327th position out of 332 A category stations surveyed in the country.
The report of the survey which has been released recently has ranked Sonipat railway station at 322th position, Faridabad got 323 rank and Ballabhgarh was placed at 317th position.
The third party audit-cum-survey of ranking of cleanliness covered 407 stations which includes 75 station in A1 (which are busiest and generates annual passenger revenue of above Rs 50 crore) and 332 station in A category stations (contribute between Rs 6 crore and Rs 50 crore as annual passenger revenue).
The railways stations in Haryana have attained the lower ranks with overall score of 477.47, 499.65, 495.11, 522.90 in Jagadhari, Sonipat, Faridabad and Ballabhgarh respectively. In the previous survey in the year 2017, Jagadhri was ranked at 284th position.
The four part latest survey was based on process evaluation, direct observation, citizen feedback and station manager interview.
Among other railway station in the State, Rohtak junction was ranked at 285,
Panipat junction at 262, Karnal at 241, Kalka at 236, Gurugram at 201 and Rewari at 113th position.
Hisar and Bhiwani railway station have figured in top 100 with rankings of 70 and 42 respectively.
In the survey, Jodhpur and Marwar railway stations in neighboring Rajasthan had been adjudged the cleanest on the Indian Railways network.
The only A-1 category station in the State—Ambala Cantt junction Railway Station has been ranked at 46th position among the 75 busiest railway stations of the country.
