In order to maintain the condition of zoos in Himachal and to provide the public with the latest information about wildlife, the State Government has decided to introduce state-of-the-art 3-D theatre in Kufri zoo.
This was decided during a meeting of Governing Board of Himachal Pradesh Zoos and Conservation Breeding Society (HPZCBS) held here under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary, Forests Tarun Kapoor.
DFO Wildlife Shimla, Hamirpur, Kullu, Sarahan and Chamba presented the works done in their respective zoos or pheasantries in the previous years.
It was also decided to further provide public amenities in all the zoos of the State.
The Governing Body also decided to enhance the user experience through introduction of audio video aids and better souvenir shop in all the zoos. The Board also decided in principle to go ahead with the in situ release of both the cheer and the western tragopan pheasants from Chail and Sarahan peasantries respectively.
The Board along with invitee members of the field like from Chhatbir Zoo (Punjab) decided to strengthen the feeding of all the animals of the zoos so that they get best quality feed which is nutritionally balanced from the local markets.
Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Ajay Kumar, PCCF Wild life RC Kang, CCF Wild life Nagesh Guleria, who is member secretary and CEO of the Society, senior officers from the head quarters and Field Conservators and DFOs of Wild life Wing of the forest Department were present in the meeting.
