The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday conducted raided at Kuldip Sons Jewellers store located at Main Road Bistupur in connection with the Rs 11,400-crore Punjab National Bank fraud. The team from Ranchi conducted search operation for Gili products of Gitanjali Gems located at Kuldip Sons Jewellers store. The team have seized all Gili products from the store.
An official from ED said that the name of Mehul Choksi, the owner of the Gitanjali store, has featured in the multi-crore rupees fraud. The raid in the city-based outlet of jewellery house was part of an all India operation that the agency is conducting in connection with the multi-crore Punjab National Bank (PNB) scam. Punjab National Bank, the second largest public sector bank in India, had detected the $1.8 billion fraud in one of its branches in Mumbai.
Meanwhile, when contacted Sunil Verma, director of Kuldip Sons Jewellers, confirmed that a team from Enforcement Directorate conducted search operation of Gili products as part of all India operation.
“We have a special outlet of Gili products at our Main Road Bistupur stores and ED team took stock of the products. We have no say in it since the products belong to the company and we are just provided a counter to sell it. We have products which have audited records,” noted Verma.
