Tuesday, 10 July 2018 | PNS | Lucknow

On a day dreaded don Munna Bajrangi was shot dead inside Baghpat jail, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that his government had zero-tolerance against organised crime and whosoever targeted the common man or trader will get a befitting reply.

“This government is committed to the security of the people. The police will not only use its arms for self defence but also for protecting the lives of people,” Yogi told reporters in Moradabad, where he had gone on a two-day visit.

Yogi reviewed law and order situation there and asked police officials to remain extra alert.

“The actions that UP Police is taking against criminals is as per law and in accordance with human rights law of our state,” he said.

But when asked about Bajrangi’s killing inside Baghpat jail, Yogi said that it was a matter of concern as it happened inside a jail. “It is a matter of probe as to how arms and ammunition reached the accused who opened fire,” theChief Minister said.

Talking about achievements of his government, Yogi said that projects like One District, One Product (ODOP) - aimed pushing traditional industries in every district, would help Moradabad in promoting brassware.

“The state government wants to help district-specific industries and products in gaining national and international recognition through branding, marketing support and easy credit,” Yogi said.

“The ODOP scheme is aimed at promoting special products from specific areas to push sales and improve the standard of living of local population,” he said.

The Chief Minister said that after independence, UP was at the top in MSME but has slid down to third place in the last 50 years. “In one year, we need to take it to number one position. We know some units are facing problems in getting loan as they are not registered with GST.  Those companies which are not under GST, should also get themselves registered. This will help in availing government facilities,” he said.

When asked about the two-child norm, Yogi said that the Union government will find a way out. “If the government fails to do it, the society will set the record straight,” Yogi said without elaborating further.
