The Dehradun District Magistrate SA Murugesan visited the flood affected Gohri Mafi area along with departmental officials on Monday morning. He also directed the officials concerned to ensure relief and immediate alternate arrangements for the flood affected villagers.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has directed that an aerial survey also be conducted as part of efforts to find a permanent solution to the problem at the village located along the Song river. The Rishikesh MlA Premchand Agrawal said that the problem had resulted from the river changing its course. Execution of flood protection works in the area could not be continued due to a stay ordered by the National Green Tribunal in an application filed in the case, he added.

According to information provided by the the State emergency operation centre on Monday afternoon, the level of water in the Song river was normal. Due to consistent rainfall from Sunday night to Monday morning, the resulting water logging was causing some inconvenience to the villagers in movement.

The State Disaster Response Force deployed a small boat to ferry the villagers across to get the items of their daily needs.
