DCBl trains, empowers women in Jharkhand

Dalmia Cement (Bharat) limited (DCBl), a subsidiary of Dalmia Bharat limited, in association with JSlPS (Jharkhand State livelihood Promotion Society) and Department of Rural Development, hosted a day-long training programme for women associated with ‘PanchMART’, which is a unique initiative by the the Government to promote entrepreneurial skills among women.

The PanchMART initiative began two months ago by the District Development Commissioner (DDC) Ranchi. This initiative provides training to the members of Sakhi Mandal Group by helping them to start their own building material business. Dalmia Cement became the first company that took up the responsibility of training the women members on starting their own building material business and thereby encourage the birth of new entrepreneurs in the State of Jharkhand. The DDC in association with Jharkhand State livelihood Promotion Society (JSlPS) along with Dalmia Cement (Bharat)ltd. will help will train these members. In order to commemorate this partnership a day long training programme was held at Zilla Parishad Training House in Ranchi. DDC (CEO ZillaParishad), Ranchi, Shashi Ranjan as well as the District Project Manager, Shanti Mardi,graced the occasion and handed over the certificates of participation.

The training programme titled, "PANCH MART, CEMENT MARKETING AND QUAlITY CONTROl AT SITE", elicited humungous response as around 80 Sakhi Mandal members from across Ranchi district participated in the programme to learn on the right usage of cement, building materials and quality control at site. These women were trained in every aspect involved in cement business, right from product know how, construction practices, sale and distribution pattern in cement companies, keeping sales ledger, account maintenance and ROI calculation. In each block of Ranchi District, three to four Sakhi Mandals have been created with four to five women members who were all present at the training programme.
