In a major step towards ensuring health of ageing Gas Line, the Energy Management Department (EMD) has successfully replaced 28 metres of High Pressure Mixed Gas line feeding to Rail and Structural Mill, Wire Rod Mill and Merchant Mill, a Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) press release informed on Wednesday.
The job required high degree of skills and safety precautions at site due to the height.
The positioning of the crane and its manoeuvrability was an uphill task. The dismantling and erection of new pipe line was safely executed during the on-going capital repair of Rail & Structural Mills using 120 tonnes capacity Crane, it informed.
Entire job was critically planned, executed and commissioned by Gas Safety (EMD). The support of COCCD (for providing Crane), RSM (Elect) and Bhilai Fire Services was highly commendable in executing the job safely, the press release informed.
The gas line was successfully commissioned on September 11. A highly committed and coordinated effort was displayed by Gas Safety & Operation (EMD) during commissioning of gas line.
The entire workforce showed good involvement in completing the jobs timely and safely.
