The State capital city is waiting to witness its first Bali Yatra on its outskirts this year. Though efforts had been made to hold a festival last year, it could not take place due to no consent from the Commissionerate police.
The Bali Yatra that commemorates the maritime glory of ancient Odisha is to be held on the Kuakhai riverbanks at Patia Bandha near Jaripatna from November 23 to 30.
A Bhubaneswar Bali Yatra Committee office was inaugurated by local Bhubaneswar (North) MLA Priyadarshi Mishra on Friday. Mishra assured the representatives of around 50 villages that all necessary help would be extended from the administration for organising the festival.
According to reports, the Bali Yatra in Bhubaneswar will feature around 500 stalls, two stages, various types of swings and cultural programmes every evening.
A plan is underway for parking of vehicles and ensuring fire safety issues. The stall booking has also started after the inauguration of the committee office.
