A day after the dead body of a seven-year-old girl was found at the roof of a mosque, the postmortem report has revealed that the victim was sexually assaulted before being strangulated to death.
Amid the tension that prevailed in locality after the murder of minor, heavy police force was deployed to deal with any untoward incident.
The incident came to light on Sunday morning when a person went on the roof top of the mosque for having some fresh air while he went there for prayer. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ghaziabad Vaibhav Krishna said after the confirmation of rape as revealed in post-mortem examination of deceased, additional sections of rape and POCSO have been added in the original FIR.
An FIR under section of abduction of girl was initially registered after the minor went missing and her parents suspected involvement of a local councilor. The father of the victim named Zahid Beg alleged that the Aizaz who is a local councillor of Murad Nagar, along with his three brothers Naushad, Shahzad and Izhar, had kidnapped his daughter.
The victim was second child among four siblings. In the CCTV footage the girl can be seen going out from the home with her brother at about 1 pm but her brother was seen returning alone in the CCTV footage. Police said circumstantial and substantial evidences points towards the fact that Aizaz, along with his three brothers abducted, raped and killed the innocent child.
The family members of the deceased alleged that “political enmity” is behind the rape and murder of their daughter as they opposed BSP candidate in the last municipal elections. The family alleged that the accused had earlier threatened them of dire consequences for opposing him.
The dead body of the girl was found covered by a gunny bag on the rooftop of the mosque in Murad Nagar town of Ghaziabad on Sunday. The girl was abducted on Saturday afternoon while she was returning to her home from the shop along with her brother.
“The complainant Zahid Beg has named the local councilor Azaz in the FIR along with his three brothers. The FIR has been registered and arrest of the culprits will be made soon,” said the SSP.
