Tension prevailed at Additional District Magistrate (ADM) office here on Saturday over a conflict between ADM Monisha Banerjee and members of the Rourkela Bar Association over the location of handing over of a memorandum.
The lawyers wanted to hand over the memorandum at their demonstration site whereas the ADM wanted it to receive it in her chamber. This issue continued for about three hours A platoon police force was deployed on the spot.
The lawyers withdrew their demonstration, only after Banerjeee came out of her chamber and received the memorandum addressed to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik demanding quick action in the alleged murder of a young advocate of the Orissa High Court a couple of days back.
Banerjee defended her action stating that there is dignity of the office of the ADM. "They were rigid that I go to the road where they had assembled and accept their memorandum,” she said.
