The State Government is working according to the expectations of the public, said Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat. He was addressing the public at Kusumkheda while campaigning for the Bharatiya Janata Party mayoral candidate for Haldwani, Jogendra Rautela. Rawat said that considering the requirements of rural areas, the state government had merged 36 villages with the municipal corporation.
This was being opposed by the opposition members who are today contesting the local body elections.
He said, “Earlier, we had decided not to impose any tax in such areas merged in municipal corporations for a period of 10 years. We have increased the budget and also made provision for separate budgetary allocation considering future needs.”
The chief minister also appealed the public to elect BJP candidates to office.
Cabinet minister Yashpal Arya said, “We have gone to the public with the development works undertaken by the government. We are receiving full support from the public.”
MLA Banshidhar Bhagat expressed confidence that the BJP candidate will achieve a resounding victory considering the massive public support being received.
Mayoral candidate Jogendra Rautela said that when he assumed his first term as Haldwani mayor, the corporation had to clear Rs 34 crore dues.
After being elected to office, the BJP state government got these dues cleared. BJP State chief Ajay Bhatt and other party leaders were also present on the occasion.
