The Belagavi district administration in Mumbai Karnataka on Monday unfurled the tallest national flag one feet taller than that of Attari in waga border. Belagavi District Minister Ramesh Jarkiholi unfurled the 9,600 sq ft wide flag on a 110-metre-tall flagpole at 9:30 am.
The flagpole erected at Fort lake is 1 ft taller than the one in Attari. The event was attended by leaders, schoolchildren, and leaders of Hindu, Muslim, Christian and Sikh institutions at the Kote Kere front. This flag in Belgaum beats the one at the India-Pakistan border at Attari in Punjab.
Minister Ramesh Jarkiholi said “We are all proud Indians. We respect the principles of unity and harmony enshrined in the Constitution. India is a country of many faiths and all are equal here.” Belagavi (North) MlA Feroz Sait said it was a proud moment for him as it was his dream of hoisting the tallest flag of the country in Belagavi has come true.
