In a significant addition to its time test electoral strategy the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen has started conducting exclusive meetings of women to hear their grievances and discuss their issues.
MIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, who came up with the idea to woo the women voters, has so far participated in four such meetings in different Assembly constituencies.
Owaisi, for whom so far door-to-door campaign and walk through the lanes and bylanes of the old city interacting with the voters, was the backbone of election campaign apart from the corner meeting and locality wise meetings, assured the women that the party will address their problems.
Addressing one such meeting in Yakutpura Owaisi said, “the biggest problems for the poor families were the medical treatment and the house rent. The MIM will focus on giving succor to the families on both the issues”.
Pointing out that construction was already taken up for the free two bed room houses at 7 or 8 places in old city and more such projects will be taken up to solve the problem of housing and give a relief to the families for whom paying 4 to 5 thousand rupees per month rent was impossible.
On the health front he said already four Mohalla clinics were opened in the old city to extend free medical help to the people and more such clinics will be opened .
Specifically addressing the non Muslim women he said that the people of other community should clear this misconception that MIM works only for one community. Asking all the communities to approach MIM to resolve their problems he said, “the doors of Darussalam (party headquarters) were open to all the communities.
Stressing that women were not less than men in their mental abilities, Owaisi announced that he will hold three interactive meetings with women every year to take ideas and suggestions from them. He urged the women voters to come out in full force on December 7 and exercise their right. “We are seeking votes on the basis of our work over the last 65 years”, he said.
Earlier he held such meetings in Charminar, Karwan, Bahadurpura and Malakpet constituencies.
Later he tweeted, “in future I will take up work on housing, healthcare and social security more aggressively”.
“It is our sincere effort, I promise you, to have at lest three such meetings every year. We will talk to them (women) listen to them, and see what can be done. Good ideas can come from such meetings”, he added.
In another first the MIM has also hired the services of a professional public relations firm to formulate its social media strategy and to come up with new ideas to woo the first time and young voters.
