Wednesday, 04 April 2018 | Parvesh Sharma | GURUGRAM

Gurugram residents will soon be able to track city bus locations and timings on their phones as Gurugram Metropolitan City Bus limited (GMCBl) is preparing a mobile app.

The mobile application will allow passengers to track buses in real-time, get information about when a bus will reach a stop, and even know when they will reach a particular destination.

The authority will provide a smart card for the journey to the passengers. The app will  provide commuters information about route maps and timetable of buses. It will also generate details such as speed of bus, route, time of departure, whether a bus is late or on time and distance travelled, along with diversion in routes, and unauthorised stops.

Apart from this, Gurugram Metropolitan City Bus limited has also prepared their official website www.gmcb.in in which the commuters can view bus routes, timetable and get fare information.

“The app would be beneficial for commuters. It will help passengers in getting real-time information of buses. The mobile application will also have information on all routes of the city. Commuters can plan their arrival time at their destination.

This is probably the first city bus service that has a mobile app with features that provide real-time bus information including map location,” an official with the Municipal Corporation Gurugram (MCG) on requesting anonymity, said.

With an aim to improve connectivity in millennium city, the Municipal Corporation Gurugram (MCG) has decided to launch 500 CNG buses in a phased manner.

The GMCBl has prepared an action plan on the project at least 200 buses for 11 routes in the first phase and 25 routes have been finalized for 500 buses.

Sources said a city bus service for the Millennium City will be operational by August 2018. Recently the corporation had identified the locations of five depots across the city.

It is proposed that the MCG was to have 51% share in the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) followed by 19% share of Haryana government, 25% of Haryana Industrial Development Board and 5% of the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC).
