Haseena is real

Shraddha Kapoor’s excitement is growing with the release date of Haseena Parkar coming close. However, she has everything planned out for her future

Bollywood’s girl next door, Shraddha Kapoor, who is playing Haseena, sister of the underworld don Dawood Ibrahim in Haseena Parkar, feels that the character is not in the negative space. “It’s a real life character about whom not much is known. There are a lot of theories and presumptions, based on the context of what has been reported so far, but not many people know about her life. I feel it’s a true story of a woman who faced a lot in her life and dealt with some challenging circumstances. It’s a story of a woman who has suffered a loss in her life and is still trying to bounce back,” added the actress, who is looking forward to begin work on the biopic of Saina Nehwal and in Saaho along with Prabhas.

Shraddha feels that the genre of a film is not the real challenge and that it lies in improving her work with every project. “Each film has its own challenge. I can’t say doing love stories is difficult or doing intense films is difficult. I think the challenge for me is to do better work and make improvement in my craft.”

In Haseena...she will be seen on screen with her brother Siddhanth Kapoor. She says it was a experience like no other. “It’s surreal actually. I still don’t believe that we have done a film together. I feel when we get older, we will talk about memories of doing this film together. So when we

will discuss this at that point of time, it will be a lot of fun.”

However, things weren’t so easy for Rajesh Tailang who plays Shyam Keswani. “He is a high profile lawyer in Mumbai. The difficult thing for me was to look like him. I have worked on it a lot. While shooting, I had to wear a wig and do all the make-up to match him. It took two hours everyday. After shoot, it again took two hours to remove it. So that physical part was a challenge. It was a very exciting role as most of the scenes were happening in a court,” he added.

Tailang, best known to international audiences for his role in Siddharth, for which he garnered a Canadian Screen Award nomination for Best Actor at the 2nd Canadian Screen Awards, was all praise for his co-star, Shraddha. “Working with her was a very nice experience. She is very down-to-earth and never behaves like a star. She has done a remarkable work in this film,” shared Tailang.

While the release date of Haseena Parkar is all set for September 22, Shraddha is looking forward to her new projects. “I haven’t started shooting for Saina yet. I am preparing for it and shooting of that film will take place after some time because there is a lot of pre-production work and research that has to be done. Now I will start shooting for Saaho — my first multi-lingual film which we will shoot in Hindi and Telugu. Recently, I spent two days in Hyderabad for the readings of Saaho with Prabhas and I also met Saina Nehwal there. So, I am very excited for both these films.” Shraddha is clearly focussing on a performance-oriented trajectory and is choosing realism over candy crush.
