The mathematical precision in which Uttar Pradesh (UP) Chief Minister (CM) Yogi Adityanath is striking at the corruption, social evils and is forcing bureaucracy of UP, known for its monumental slothfulness to move at a rapid pace, shows that he has an astute brain. It is no wonder that the UP CM is a post graduate in Mathematics. Yogi Adityanath was Ajay Singh Bisht, a resident of Panchur village in Yamkeshwar block of Pauri Garhwal district. He shed worldly pleasures and took Sanyas at Gorakhpur in the year 1993.
Back in ancestral village, Panchur his biological father, Anand Singh Bisht, a retired forest department personnel lives a very modest life with his family. The family has carefully kept all the books and note books of young Ajay safe. His father disclosed that Ajay was very good in mathematics from his school days. “When he was doing his bachelor’s degree (BSc) in Kotdwar town he used to tutor other students as well,’’ he said. Ajay took the interest in mathematics to a higher level as he enrolled himself for master’s degree in mathematics after doing his graduation. The Bisht family has preserved the notebooks and textbooks of Ajay in a small library in their home. Ajay did his early education in his ancestral village. He did is class IX from Chamkot and class X from Gaja where his father was posted at that time. The octogenarian Bisht with moist eyes said that when Ajay left home he and his wife thought that he is going to find some job. later Mahant Avaidyanath informed them that he is determined to take Sanyas. Adityanath however kept the association with his family and visited home occasionally. Young Adityanath remained concerned at the backwardness of the area especially lack of institute of higher education institute in Yamkeshwar. In the year 1999, he established Mahaguru Gorakhnath Degree College in Bithyani village. The BJP government of Uttarakhand recently added this college in the list of aided colleges.
