Palamu admin detects Rs 98l embezzlement

Embezzlement worth Rs 98 lakh led to the judicial remand of then District Nazir Palamu Shailesh Kumar said DSP Prabhat Ranjan Barwar on Wednesday..

Briefing newsmen jointly with nazarat deputy collector Satish Kumar in town thana on Wednesday Barwar said the embezzlement worth Rs 98 lakhs  was done by way of tampering with the cheques of the bank given to non governmental people like furniture seller, petrol seller, printing press owner etc.

Giving examples DSP said ' Sanctioned amount of the cheque was 25, 302. It was tampered with to become of the value of 7,25,302.Similarly the cheque's sanctioned value was 71,950. It was inflated to become 7,71,950 rupees.

He said this gross financial cheating and forgery is just related to the period 5.1.2016 to 28.6.2016. Director Accounts DRDA Palamu Haider Ali had conducted the probe added DSP Barwar.

Barwar agreed that it cannot be ruled out that district nazir alone did this foul play. There could be many more too from the office side too.

About half a dozen beneficiaries of such tampered with/inflated value cheques are being quizzed by the police here he added.

Police have registered the criminal case under section 407 ( breach of trust by public servant) 420 (cheating) 467 (forgery of valuable security) 468 (forgery for the purpose of cheating) 471( using as genuine forged document) and 120 9b) which deals with conspiracy.

Barwar said depending upon the gravity of this case ACB, ED and IT sleuths may be pressed int its unfolding.

Nazareth deputy collector Satish Kumar said '  We are trying to get back our 98 lakhs of rupees so embezzled'.

Satish Kumar said recovery of our embezzled money is our priority to which DSP Barwar using his police angle said ' A criminal case has been instituted and hence law will take its own course under the provisions so prescribed'.

The detection was done when officials who had done JAC 2016 examination duty demanded their remuneration said NDC Satish Kumar.

He conceded that JAC gave us 9,93, 800 rupees for disbursement of remuneration which was not paid till date and no entry of it was ever made in the cash book by nazir Shailesh Kumar.

Similarly sofa worth 93.698 was to be bought for circuit house Daltonganj and here this amount was shown as spent sans any sofa there in the circuit house.
