Odisha shivered under a cold wave with the mercury dropping in many parts, especially in the interior region in Kandhamal district on Sunday night.
The temperature at Kandhamal’s Daringbadi, which is widely known as “Kashmir of Odisha”, plunged to 9 degree Celsius.
Following the continuous rains in most parts of the state due to low pressure two weeks ago, winter arrived in the hill station since November 23.
According to the block weather forecast centre, the minimum temperature in the area was recorded 14 degree Celsius on November 23, 12.5 degree on November 24, 9.5 degree on November 25 and 9 degree on November 26.
The weather remains sunny during daytime, but the mercury goes down in the evening.
Normal life was affected in the morning after the region came under the grip of cold. The bus passengers travelling to several locations including Phulbani, Baliguda, Bhanjanagar and Brahmapur from Daringbadi faced difficulties.
The MeT predicted that the temperature would drop in next two days in interior Odisha attracting a number of tourists to visit the hill stations.
