The 38th edition of Maxi Fair organised by the Marketing Association of XlRI saw unparalleled turnout in competitions of Dance Mania, Masterchef, Miss and Mrs. Jamshedpur and the likes.

Throughout the day, the fairgrounds thronged with excited participants, cheerful students and families who saw Maxi Fair as a lively and entertaining breather. The highlight of the show was however, the electrifying performance of Raftaar, a rapper who has a line of popular songs in his name.

This year is the 38th edition of Maxi Fair, an event whose seeds were laid in 1979. Born to pursue marketing with an academic purpose, Maxi Fair has earned a name for itself. This year, MAXI received 10 research problems from leading market players from the FMCG and Manufacturing sector.

Maxi Fair was inaugurated in the presence of Fr. Ozzie Mascarenhas, dean academics, A. Pani, Prof D. Pradhan, HOD Marketing and Professor S. Sarin, a veteran of Marketing. This occasion was taken to felicitate Professor Sarin, who has been associated with XlRI for the last 40 years and who laid the foundation of MAXI fair.

The first event that kicked off the Fair was Dance Mania, a kids' group dance competition which saw vibrant participation across ages. Brilliant moves were showcased and the judges acknowledged the talent among the participants. Another major attraction that garnered attention was the beauty pageant titled Miss Jamshedpur. Several young girls exhibited their singing and dancing moves before enthralling the audience in their ethnic and western garb in the fashion show. MasterChef too was a huge success with some relishing, brilliant recipes that had the audience yearning for a taste. The day had several other attractions of varied stalls, a well-stocked and diversified food court catering to all varieties of taste buds, a gaming arena for laser tag, paint ball and many others.

The show stellar performance however was that of Raftar who performed atop the RedBull Tour Bus and set an electric atmosphere. With several popular numbers, he had the crowd dancing and thoroughly enjoying themselves.

On the close of the first day Ankesh Misra, scretary, MAXI said, “This year's MAXI Fair is the biggest ever. We hope to carry forward our legacy of intensive research through disguised methods” Maxi fair would continue on the 15th with several other exciting competitions lined up such as a Kids' Fashion Show, Art Attack and many others, only to be followed by a power packed performance by Sunil Pal.
