City-based JRD Tata Sports Complex is getting ready for Jamshedpur leg of Indian Super league (ISl) matches. Work is in full progress to give a new cover to 102 m x 67 m playing arena. The workers are laying a fresh coat of greens. An ISl-recommended curator, has given directions on bringing changes at the stadium.

A senior official of Tata Steel sports department informed that a New Delhi-based curator is coming and they have set a deadline to finish the turf work by September.

 “We are going to give a new look to the stadium. The grass will be of international standards as it is one of the prime requirements for hosting ISl matches here.  The ground will be equipped with a drainage system for preventing water accumulation,” the official added. With Tata Steel winning the Jamshedpur franchise in the upcoming season of the coveted ISl, steps are being taken to establish new identity for the stadium.

The company won the bid with Jamshedpur as the host city and part of ISl.  As per the information the city will host nine matches at the sports complex in Bistupur. The matches are expected to be held from second week of November.

Sources informed that Rs 40-crore has been earmarked for renovation plan for the stadium. The company is planning to replace its ground with Bermuda grass, to provide ease to play for players.

The stadium has a capacity of 30,000 with greens, measuring 102m by 67m.

As per the plans the flood lights will also go hi-tech with high visibility.

Set up in 1991, the JRD Tata Sports Complex Stadium is the largest sports arena in Jamshedpur. As a multi-use stadium, has an international size football pitch with an eight-lane mono-synthetic running track around the field.

TFA has been grooming exceptional players who have brought glory to the nation for the last 30 years. The new team will leverage the state-of-the-art infrastructure at TFA.

Established in Jamshedpur in 1987, the objective of TFA has been to nurture and train budding footballers in the most scientific way to improve the standard of Indian football by producing outstanding players for the Indian National Team. The academy has trained over 200 players, out of whom 135 have represented the country, with 19 of them having lead the national team as captain across various age groups.
