A Jatra (opera) couple belonging to the Parbati Gananatya was attacked by a co-actor at Hinjili in Ganjam district early on Sunday morning following a heated argument between them over an issue.
The injured couple was rushed to a hospital in Hinjili, from where they were shifted to the MKCG Medical College Hospital in Brahmapur for better treatment.
An FIR has been lodged against accused Sushant Sahoo by Parbati Gananatya manager Goutam Swain at the Hinjilicut police station following the incident. The injured persons were identified as Sanjay Behera and his wife Manini.
According to reports, Sushant attacked the couple following an argument while they were going to their room after the end of a show staged on Saturday night. The situation turned uglier when Sushant attacked Sanjay with knife and stabbed him in his chest and back.
Sushant hails from Kumarpur village in Bhadrak district. Police detained him following the FIR and a probe was underway.
