The Gentlemen Cadets (GC) who performed exceptionally well in various activities of Passing Out Course (POC) of 140 Regular, 123 Technical Graduate Course (TGC) and 25 University Entry Scheme (UES) were felicitated at a glittering award ceremony held at Khetrapal Auditorium of Indian Military Academy (IMA) on Wednesday.
The Commandant of IMA, lt Gen S K Upadhya, bestowed recognition and awards to the GCs. Addressing the Academy cadets, the IMA commandant said that many of the young officers could be subjected to extreme conditions on joining their regiments. These conditions will test the leadership skills of the young officers and in such conditions team work and trust on team members holds the key for success, he observed.
The Vice Chancellor of the Uttarakhand Technical University (UTU), Professor P K Garg distributed certificates to the foreign Gentlemen Cadets on the occasion. An IMA communiqué informs that the GCs during their training at this premier institute are exposed to multifarious activities such as weapon training, service and academic subjects, drill, physical training, sports, outdoor camps and extracurricular activities. These are aimed at making them battle ready and teach them necessary skills to execute various responsibilities and operational tasks with utmost professionalism during service career.
The GCs are also encouraged to achieve excellence at individual level and contribute constructively in team effort to infuse a sense of comradeship amongst them. Accordingly, Medals and Rolling trophies have been instituted at IMA, which mark the highest standards achieved at the Individual and Company levels, the communiqué further adds.
