The Government Railway Police (GRP), Bhopal, and GRP, Itarsi, have busted two gangs of thieves and nabbed 9 miscreants involved in robbery and stealing valuables from train passengers and recovered valuables worth `4.22 lakh.
The accused used chain pulling for targeting the passengers and after the decelerating of the train they would snatch valuables from the passengers and would escape the spot.
Passengers which were asleep at the time of halting of train near railway stations were easy targets and the miscreants would remove the valuables from the windows.
The nabbed accused were identified as Kallu alias Omprakash Bhadoria (25) of Bhind, Sonu Panthi alias Jonty (28) of Ibrahimganj, Pushpendra alias Sagar of Sagar, Deepak alias Bhura Banwari(31) of Itarsi, Deepak alias Paniyal (32) of Ibrahimganj, Chandan Singh Raghuwanshi (32) of Hoshangabad, Ejaz alias Azad(24), Shabnam alias Pankaj Dubey (23) of Raisen and Sunil Kumar Mandal (23) of Satna.
In the initial investigation Kallu, Sonu, Pushpendra, Deepak and Bhura were nabbed by GRP Bhopal and confessed 17 crimes in Bhopal and other crimes in Itarsi region. later under the custody of GRP Itarsi the accused confessed involvement of other accomplices and recovered `40000 cash and gold and jewelry. A total of `1.75 lakh were recovered.
The other gang was busted by GRP Itarsi and nabbed Chandan, Sunil, Ejaz and Shabnam.
Police said that Kallu is a watch list criminal under GRP Itarsi and Chandan is a watch list criminal of Pipariya. Ejaz has been booked for robbery and burglary by Khandwa police.
