Dr Prem Kumar held for negligence in treatment

Friday, 06 January 2017 | PNS | Hazaribagh

Hazaribagh police arrested Dr Prem Kumar Mehta from his clinic cum nursing home situated in Okni mohallah of the town on Wednesday late evening. Sadar OIC Inspector Jeetendra Kumar Singh said that arrest has been made on the FIR lodged by Sikandar Prasad Mehta of Padma block in which he had stated that due to negligence in treatment his wife died on 5th December 2016.

Dr. Prem Kumar Mehta was practicing in Hazaribagh town for over 8-10 years. It was in talks in Hazaribagh that he is a quack but last month after the death of Sikandar’s wife he had claimed that he is an MBBS doctor having got the degree from Goa. The civil surgeon of Hazaribagh has then constituted a committee to examine his degree.

According to police the committee has submitted its report and has clearly stated that the degree he had submitted is fake. On the other hand on Thursday again Dr. Mehta repeated that he is a genuine MBBS doctor. Police produced him in the court today and was sent to jail in the evening.

The charge of negligence in treatment is not a new thing for Dr. Mehta and his Janta nursing home. Two years ago a women of Daru block was brought to his nursing home with fractured hand. Her hand was plastered by the doctor and gangrene developed. lastly her hand was removed by other doctors to save that lady.

last year too a woman lost her life in his nursing home and the relatives of that women had also filed an FIR against the doctor. The above two cases against doctor Mehta are pending yet. Now with the arrest of this fake doctor their relatives can hope of getting justice.
