Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and injuries in the accident of 18477 Kalinga Utkal Express bound for Haridwar which occurred at Khatauil near Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh following derailment of ten coaches on Ghaziabad-Saharanpur Section of Delhi Division of Northern Railway on Saturday evening. This aside, he sent a medical team to the spot. The train was coming to Haridwar from Puri.
The team comprised Haridwar rural SP, SDM, CO and the Tehsildar. Two ambulances have been sent too. CM has instructed Haridwar DM to provide all kind of medical help to the injured passengers while keeping in constant contact with the Muzaffarnagar district administration.
It is learnt that the minister Railways Suresh P Prabhu is personally monitoring the situation and giving directions for prompt relief and rescue operations. Manoj Sinha, the Minister of State for Railways, Mohammad Jamshed, the member Traffic Railway Board and director general (Health) Railway Board aside from an NDRF team were on their way to the derailment site while the report was being filed.
