SSC paper leak: Racket busted, 7 held

Friday, 26 May 2017 | Staff Reporter | New Delhi

In a major breakthrough, the Delhi Police Crime Branch has busted a racket in connection with the April 30 Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Multi Tasking Staff (MTS) 2017 recruitment examinations paper leak case.

Confirming the matter, Madhur Verma, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) said, “Seven people have been arrested in this matter from different parts of Uttar Pradesh. Apart from 6 accused people, one more person named Kuldeep was also apprehended from Uttar Pradesh who was the paper solver in this case. Further investigation is being carried out and some absconding accused are yet to be arrested.”

“The names of the accused are Dharmender, Anuj Dangi, Ankur Kumar Baliyan,  Sunder Chaudhary, Arun Kumar and Vishal Giri and Kuldeep,” said a senior police officer.

Police said that on May 3 they received a complaint from Staff Selection Commission (SSC), wherein it was alleged that SSC is conducting written examination in the OMR method for the post of Multi-Tasking (Non-technical) Staff Examination 2017 from April 30 to June 11. On April 30, while second shift of examination was being conducted, officials of SSC while browsing the Facebook page, came to know that one facebook profile page in the name of www.facebook.com/nsingh202 has uploaded the question paper/answer keys at 1.21 pm (well before the time of start of examination ie 2 pm). On comparing the uploaded question paper/answer keys, it matched with the original one.  Hence, SSC had cancelled the second shift of examination and filed the present complaint. Again on May 14, the same Neetu Singh had uploaded the images containing question paper/answer keys related to SSC MTS examination held in 1st and 2nd shift. Following which, a case was registered with the Crime Branch.

“During investigations, it was revealed that there are several chains involved in this nexus. These racketeers in an organised manner had managed to get the access to the question paper prior to commencement of the examination with the connivance of examination centre staff. One of the racketeers would get the access of the question paper from a particular school prior to the commencement of examination and this question paper would be circulated to the desired destination, where the solvers solve the question papers and prepare the keys.  These keys are further circulated through whatsapp to the candidates appearing in the examination and in turn hefty amount is being paid to these racketeers by the candidates,” said Praveer Ranjan, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime).

Police said that raids were conducted at various places in Uttar Pradesh and 7 accused closely associated with the nexus and involved in SSC MTS Paper leak 2017 were apprehended and from their possession mobile phones containing images of the question paper/answer related to SSC MTS examination held on May 14.
