Travelling is my drug: Sumona

Switzerland offers pretty much everything that’s on the bucket list of most of us. But it has as much to offer to the adrenaline junkie. So officials are clearly looking for icons beyond Yash Chopra. Television stars are a big draw and actress Sumona Chakravarti has been doing her bit for Swiss adventures on her photo sharing app. “I love travelling to different places. But more than that, I love doing adventure sports. It does scare me but then I have to do it”, she shared, after returning from her holidays in Switzerland.

“I’m very stubborn. And I think this stubbornness is what gives me courage for doing all the adventure sports. I love that adrenaline rush, that madness, which you get while doing these adventures. Otherwise, they are really scary,” she giggled. The actress cycled, skydived and bungee jumped, during her trip.

“I was excited about Switzerland. I always knew it is a beautiful place but later came to know that it is equally a hub for adventure sports”, said Sumona. She sounded completely excited while sharing her first sky diving experience in Switzerland. “It was the most beautiful view in the world. At 1500 feet above the ground, I had no idea whether I should be scared of skydiving or enjoy the mesmerising view of the Swiss Alps”, she said.

“I also love travelling because I feel the need to get disconnected. I like to endure my solitude. It is like spending some quality time with myself”, said Sumona. Managing her work schedules with travelling, she added, “I always plan my travelling few days before the work and few days after it. So it becomes a long work vacation for me.”

Sharing one of her experiences, when she travelled solo for the first time, Sumona said, “I have travelled completely alone in Barcelona and Rome. It was a wonderful experience. I stayed there in a hostel. Staying in a hostel gives you the opportunity to know the natives of the place and also interact with them more. It is soul satisfying. Trust me.”

The actress plans to retire one day and buy a hut in Switzerland. “I would one day sure buy a hut in the countryside of Switzerland. I’ll have my own cows. Will have fresh milk and make cheese and that will be one perfect life”, she said.

Soon, Sumona will also be seen as a part of NDTV Good Times’ travel show, Swiss Made Adventures, alongside actor Meiyang Chang, celebrity chef Kunal Kapoor and travel Anchor, Neha Dixit, exploring Switzerland  on August 26.
