Changing slightly the negative position it had taken earlier with regard to applications under the RTI Act, seeking information regarding decisions taken at Cabinet meetings, Kerala's CPI(M)-led lDF Government has decided to publish details of such decisions within 48 hours through the Government's official website.
However, the lDF Government's stand is still unclear on the issue of giving information on the decisions taken by the 2011-16 Congress-led UDF Cabinet in the last three months of its tenure to applicants under the RTI Act. The former UDF Cabinet had taken several extremely controversial and corruption-ridden decisions towards the end of its tenure.
According to sources, the left Government is still holding fast to its plan to approach the High Court against a directive issued in the middle of June by the State's Chief Information Commissioner, Vinson M Paul, that information regarding the decisions the former UDF Cabinet had taken in the last three months of term, should be given to applicants.
As per an order issued by Chief Secretary SM Vijayanand in this regard to various Government departments, Cabinet decisions should be made into orders by concerned departments within 48 hours and the same should be published through the Government's website with all necessary details, like related notes.
Though the Government has decided to publish details of the present Cabinet's decisions in the Government website, these decisions may not appear in the site in its original nature. The information will be published after the decisions taken at the Cabinet meeting are endorsed by the concerned Government departments turning these into formal orders.
