With winter knocking the doors, Golmuri Circus grounds in Jamshedpur is abuzz with Tibetan traders.

The most popular Tibet Market in the city is brimming with enthusiasm offering the latest trendy winter wear from wednesday.

The officer-in-charge of Golmuri police station, Srinivas inaugurated the Tibet Market, the largest fair for woollen garments at the Golmuri Circus ground. The market which started today will stay till January 2017. The members performed Tibetan ritual to mark the inauguration.

There are a total 90 families with 300 individuals who have come to set up their business for the next three months.

The group of Tibetans, from about 40 years has been coming in the city with their stock of woollen garments and jackets host of other products. This time too, the 60-odd stalls lined up in the Golmuri ground have been decked up with trendy and designer woollen clothes in radiant colours.

The group, dressed in their traditional attire, said that the global warming and slump in economy has added to their woes. Their business has been badly affected due to changing weather conditions.

Tenzing Wangyal, the general secretary of Tibet Market Association said: “Every year we look forward to the city to spread our business and also help them understand our culture and heritage. This year we are late in setting up of the market. The Durga Puja was late and we took some time to set the infrastructure. like every year  this year too visitors are sure to come across a variety of products at an affordable rate”.

From pullovers, cardigans, sweat shirts, jackets, ladies kurti and even blankets, are available under one roof.

“Our quality of the woollen clothes is guaranteed and people have been coming here for a long time. Their goodwill is known to all as we have something new every year people look forward to us. However due to recession and warmer climate our market has witnessed dip in footfalls this season,” said Sangay, one of the sellers.

Members have come from Bangalore, parts of South India, Himachal Pradesh, Uttranchal and Orissa. The number of members who come for doing business is decided last year itself. There is no contact in between and once a decision is taken, it is not revoked.

Among the winter stock this year, jackets is the rage of the season. leather jackets in different designs have been put for sale. The stuff is not only good but the price is also very competitive and affordable by all.

The Tibet Market started setting up a fair from 1980 started its business from Sakchi where they used to set up the fair behind the Jama Masjid. However, due to development, construction and lack of space, the fair was transferred to the Golmuri Circus ground for the past 10 years.
