Dharitri Rout from Odisha has been conferred with the Rashtriya Swayamsiddh Samman by the JSPl Foundation in individual category for her outstanding work towards women’s oragnisation for socio-cultural awareness.
Besides, the Action for Protection of Wild Animals (APOWA), Odisha received the Swayamsiddh Samman in organisation category for mangrove conservation project that has directly benefitted around 24,000 people of 42 villages in the State.
The foundation honoured a total of nine individuals and 10 organisations for their exemplary work in different sectors. Chief guest Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Rajiv Pratap Rudy gave away the awards at a function held in New Delhi on Thursday. The winners received cash reward of Rs1 lakh and a certificate of appreciation, each.
JSPl Chairperson Emeritus Savitri Jindal and Chairman Naveen Jindal and JSPl Foundation president Shallu Jindal were present, among others. Shallu Jindal said, “People from the grassroots level rarely get recognition for the good work done by them. The award recognises and nurtures talents from the grassroots level across the country”. The Samman had received 358 entries from across the country. Maharashtra topped the list with 41 entries followed by Jharkhand (40) and Odisha (39).
