Senior Superintendent of Police Kuldeep Dwivedi today ordered his subordinates to deal with acts of destruction and violence with a firm hand during the two-day economic blockade called by Jharkhand Vikas Morcha across the State in protest against the domicile policy on June 11-12.
Dwivedi was talking to SPs, DSPs and Officers in-Charge of Ranchi Police during a crime meeting at his office on Tuesday. Take strict action against destructive elements during the blockade; no lagging behind will be tolerated, the SSP put bluntly in the meeting.
“Security forces will be deployed in adequate numbers, with some officers in civil dress will be keeping an eye on the crowd. Magistrates will be stationed at crucial points of the city to handle any violent situation that may arise. Violence, arson, blocking roads and vandalism will not be allowed,” Dwivedi told press personnel after the meeting.
A mock drill will be conducted on Wednesday to take stock of the preparations made to ensure a peaceful bandh. Proceedings will be recorded to keep track of hooligans active during the bandh, he added.
Measures to control crime were also discussed during the meeting. It was decided to put up posters around the city listing the dos and don’ts to avoid becoming a victim to crime, stated the SSP.
