To keep the momentum going on the Dayashankar Singh episode, the Bhartiya Janata Mahila Morcha will protest in lucknow on Thursday demanding the arrest of BSP leader Nasimmuddin Siddiqui.
“The BJP will protest in the `samman’ (honour) of the daughter of Singh. The BSP leaders used derogatory words against the minor girl. The police have lodged a case against Singh but why no action has been taken against the BSP leader,” asked state BJP general secretary Anupama Jaiswal on Wednesday.
She said this it is heartening to know that despite being a woman, BSP chief Mayawati chose to defend party leaders who used profane language against Singh's wife and daughter.
“We expected sagacity from a leader like Mayawati – who was CM of Uttar Pradesh thrice. Instead of showing compassion towards the minor girl, she defended her leaders and explained in detail as to what exactly they (workers) meant when they said 'beti aur biwi ko pesh karo',” Jaiswal said.
The BJMM leader said that the BJP’s women's wing will not take this insult lying down and will protest. “The workers will march towards Dr Ambedkar's statue and demand the arrest of BSP leaders,” she said.
Meanwhile, traders closed their shops in Ballia in support of Dayashankar Singh, who is a native of the eastern UP district. Protesting traders and students demanded action against the BSP leaders who used profane words against the women folks of Singh's family.
