Schoolchildren showcased their knowledge about traffic rules and road safety during a painting, poster and essay competition organised at Jawahar Navoday Vidyalaya in Karap area of the district on Tuesday.

The painting and poster competition was a part of awareness activities during the ongoing Traffic Week which started in the district on January 11 on the directions of Superintendent of Police (SP), Kanker, Rajendra Dash.

Sub Divisional Officer Renuka Srivastava, Additional SP Kamleshwar Prasad Chandel and Sub Inspector (Traffic) Vishnu Thakur explained in detail about traffic rules and road safety to the students. The students prepared paintings and posters depicting road signals, traffic signs, do’s and dont’s on road, etc. The winners were felicitated on the occasion.

Dipika Jain, Malini Mistry and Jigyasa Karanga won the first, second and third prize  respectively in the senior category of essay competition. Harsh Khwas received the consolation prize in this category.

In the junior category, Miteshwari, Sudheer Thakur and Chanchal Nageshwar won the first, second and third prize respectively while Munendra Barhai received the consolation prize. In the painting and poster competition, Domendra Komra, Kunjan Baghel and Hineshwari Dehari won the first, second and third prize respectively while Rupendra Sen won the consolation prize.

Principal of the School Upendra Singh Patel, Pl Hirwani and officials of Traffic Department besides students and teachers of Jawahar Navoday Vidyalaya were present on the occasion.
