Steel City students shine in ICSE exam

The students of Steel City have come out with flying colours in the Class X (ICSE) and Class XII (ISC) examination conducted by Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE), New Delhi. Shreya Palit, a student of Hill Top School, Telco has topped the city with 98.4 per cent marks in the class X ICSE examination conducted by CISCE. She was followed by Shilpi Agarwal of DBMS English School with 98.2 per cent.

In ISC (science stream), Utkarsh Tyagi of Hill Top School and DBMS School’s Surabhi Singh were declared joint topper with 98.75 per cent. While, little Flower School Dipti Garg with 98.5 per cent bagged third and loyola School’s Adarsh Arya with 98 per cent got fourth place. Schools in the city gave good performance in the ICSE /ISE examinations, the results of which were announced on Wednesday. In ISC (commerce stream), Hill Top School’s Shyan Chatterjee topped the city with 98.5 per cent. Hill Top School’s Priya Ghosh stood second with 98.25 per cent, while Sacred Heart Convent School’s Ankita V Parikh scored 98 per cent and came third. loyola School’s Samarth Vishal topped ISC in arts with 98.5 per cent.

Meanwhile, ISC topper Utkarsh Tyagi, said, “I am happy with my performance. I am keeping my fingers crossed and I want to pursue my career in the field of reaserch.” Meanwhile, scorching heat failed to dampen the spirits of the achievers as the internet cafes witnessed a huge rush as curious students thronged the cyber cafes to know the results.

Nonetheless, the toppers of the city, who have made their school and family proud with their performance, are looking forward to excel in their professional life too. Schools by and large expressed satisfaction over the outcome of the results. “Our students have shown their mettle in the academic fields. We wish them all the best for their future,” said Rajani Shekar, principal, DBMS.

Principals believed that the class XII results were more scoring than class X results as English was tough with 80-85 as the average number that was scored. Jharkhand had an overall pass percentage of 98.54 per cent in ICSE and 97.27 per cent in ISC. The State had a total number of 10,058 examinees in class X out of which 5,493 that is 54.61 per cent were boys and 4,565, which makes it 45.39 per cent, were girls. In ISC 4,144 students appeared from Jharkhand out of which 2,064 (49.81 per cent) were boys and 2,080 (50.19 per cent) were girls. Candidates from a total of 92 schools appeared in class X while ISC students appeared from 45 schools.
