Missing Kumaon Scout's body found from under Chhiyalekh snow

Body of the Kumoan scout member who remained untraced  has been found from under the snow in Chhiyalekh in Pithoragarh's Dharchula tehsil. Two Kumaon Scout personnel were killed and five others injured as avalanche struck Chhiyalekh in Pithoragarh's Dharchula tehsil on Monday night. Bodies of two were found on Tuesday during rescue operation while one remained untraced with the enforcement agencies had postponed rescue operation due to inclement weather. Now, with the body of the missing Scout found, the toll has gone up to three.  

Moreover, with the adverse weather condition continuing,  five Kumaon Scout personnel who were seriously injured in the avalanche could not be flown to Pithoragarh on Tuesday for further treatment. However, as soon as the weather conditions improved on Wednesday, all the five injured and the bodies of the three deceased were flown to Pithoragarh by two choppers,

Missing Kumaon Scout’s body found from under Chhiyalekh snow the officials concerned of the Pithoragarh district administration said. They were all brought to the 69 Mountain Brigade, Pithoragarh and the injured were admitted at the army hospital, Pithoragarh. As a mark of respect, the Kumaon Scout and Army personnel gave salute to the three deceased at the 69 Mountain Brigade campus, Pithoragarh. Among others, Shushil  Kumar, DistrictMagistrate Pithoragarh and  R l Sharma, SP, Pithoragarh, were present on the occasion.

According to the district administration, Pithoragarh, two of thedeceased  Santosh Chand  and Pradeep Kumar were from Pithoragarh while the third one Sahab Singh was a native  of Haryana. After formalities like postmortem were completed bodies were handed over to their respective families, said the officials concerned of the Pithoragarh district administration.

Similarly,  five injured personnel have been identified as Bhopal Singh, a native of Almora,  Sanjay Singh of Udham Singh Nagar, Narendra Singh, a native of Bageshwar, Ramu V S  of Gujarat and K S Anand of Assam Regiment,  added the officials concerned.
